Pawleys Island:
Nancy "BaBa", Nancy Leigh Bondurant Wilson passed away Tuesday, October 16th after a short illness.
Nancy BaBa, as she was known as by her family and closest friends, a Pawleys Island institution, lived her life bringing her one-of-a-kind wit and love to everyone who crossed her path. After being a tourist at Pawleys since 1958 she and her husband El, her beloved of 56 years, retired here from Danville VA to open El's Hardware on the North Causeway. Nancy BaBa was a faithful member of the community, taught school at Waccamaw Elementary and was one of the organizers of the first Pawleys Island 4th of July parade.
A faithful member of the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, Nancy BaBa served as an elder, volunteer and long time wedding director. She was also a 25 year member of the DAR.
Nancy Ba Ba's love of life lives on in her 2 children, Nancy Johnston of Georgetown and Jack Wilson of Columbia, and her four Granddaughter's Nancy Leigh Jackson, Atlanta GA, Sally Keyser, Pawleys, Courtney Maddox, Charlotte, NC, Blythe Butts, Summerville, and 7 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 19th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nancy Wilson Life Memorial Fund at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, 9967 Ocean Hwy., Pawleys Island, SC 29585-7415.
