Obituary

Murrells Inlet: Nicholas Stephen Medved, 67, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Mr. Medved was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on October 6, 1941, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas S. Medved. He grew up in Wilmerding, Pa. and graduated from Wilmerding High School. Mr. Medved served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and retied after twenty-two years service as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. He was also a retired Civil Service employee. Mr. Medved was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Garden City Beach. He was also a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #10420, American Legion Post #178, and Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge #2797. Mr. Medved was first married to the late Marie C. Medved. Surviving are: his wife, Peggy Marie Medved of Murrells Inlet; three sons, Christopher S. (Elizabeth) Medved of Mechanicsville, Md., Daniel S. ( Cheryl) Medved of Summerville, and Eric M. (Christine) Medved of Warrenton, Va.; two step-sons, Mitch Jackson of Lugoff and Ray Jackson of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Patricia Ann Hough of Neshanic, N. J. and thirteen grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be eleven o'clock Monday morning, July 27, 2009, at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell. A Wake Service will be Sunday evening, July 26, 2009, at six o'clock followed by visitation until eight o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
