Nita Ackerman Matthews, 89, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at N.E. and Ruby Green Hospice House.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Honey Hill section of Berkeley Co. on March 25, 1917, a daughter of the late John Benjamin Ackerman and Pauline Wilson Ackerman. She was a member of Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Matthews was predeceased by: her husband, Woodrow W. Matthews; a son, "Buster" Finklea; and several sisters.
Surviving are: two sons, Robert Michael Finklea and his wife Cathy of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Leslie W. Matthews and his wife Lynn of Saluda, N. C.; a daughter-in-law, Kathie Finklea of Conroe, Tex.; three brothers, John I. Ackerman and J. B. Ackerman, both of Jamestown, and Trenton E. Ackerman of Awendaw; four sisters, Lucille Brayford of Henderson, Nev., Carol Caddell of Macedonia, Gail Bunch of Moncks Corner, and Peggy Cooper of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Robert Michael Finklea, Jr. of Charlotte, N. C., John David Finklea of Los Angeles, Cal., Melissa Finklea of Dallas, Ga., Bradley Finklea of Mt. Pleasant, Joshua L. Matthews of Savannah, Ga., and C. Adam Matthews of Charleston; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two o'clock, Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2007, at Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Clide E. Glover. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
