Juanita "Nita" Kennedy Young, 73, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Young was born in Leo on June 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Courtney Heyward Kennedy and Emma Lee McAllister Kennedy. She lived in this area for many years and was the widow of Cain Young. Mrs. Young was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and retired from Tupperware in 1994.
Surviving are: a son, Sarvis Young and his wife Carolyn of Georgetown; five daughters, Frances Y. West and her husband Omega West of Georgetown, Myrtle Y. Elliott and her husband the Rev. Wayne Elliott, Margaret Y. Goude, and Doris Y. Simmons, all of Hemingway; Peggy Y. Moulds and her husband Paul Moulds of Lake City; two sisters, Ester Lee Gardner of Hamlet, NC and Eddie Jean Norton of Laurel Hill, N. C.; two brothers, Heyward Kennedy of Georgetown and Billy Kennedy of Indian Trail, NC; fourteen grandchildren, Cindy Kennington, Steven Elliott, Rebecca McLean, Elizabeth Radcliffe, Randolph Goude, Christopher Goude, Lisa Young, Chad Young, Brian Simmons, Jason Simmons, Tammy Gaskins, Joel Moulds, Amy Stevens, and Gilbert West ; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Young was predeceased by a son, Wayne Edward Young, a sister, Louise Caulder, and a brother, Buck Kennedy.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 7, 2003, at three o'clock at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald W. Ward and the Rev. Themos Cribb. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Churchyard.
The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Saturday evening from six until nine o'clock.
