Andrews:
Ollie Morris, 85, widower of Hazeleen L. Cantley Morris, died Friday, November 22, 2013, at East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Morris was born in Andrews on May 16, 1928, a son of the late John Marion Morris and Elizabeth Sports Morris. He grew up in the Warsaw community of Williamsburg Co. and lived in Georgetown for a time before moving to the Oceda community of Georgetown Co. Mr. Morris served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after over 45 years of employment from International Paper Co. on April 1, 1990, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Morris was a member of Gourdine's Chapel.
Surviving are: two sons, Kenneth O. Morris (Norma) of Jamestown and Barry C. Morris (Janet) of Georgetown; a daughter, Elizabeth M. Moore (Dale) of Andrews; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Morris of Andrews and Laurie Morris of Hemingway; and a sister, Lydia Gambone of Bakersfield, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon, November 24, 2013, at Gourdine's Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Themos Cribb. Burial will follow at Elim United Methodist Churchyard.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, November 23, 2013, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from five until seven o'clock.
