In Loving Memory of Pamela Oyler Taylor

Pamela Oyler Taylor, born on November 23, 1936, in Richwood, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2023, at her home in Greenwood, SC, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old.

Pamela was the cherished daughter of Gertrude E. Shawver Oyler and Roy Oyler, both of whom instilled in her the values of love, kindness, and resilience. Pamela pursued her education at Palmer Business School, demonstrating an early commitment to excellence. Her passion for learning and dedication to personal growth continued to be evident throughout her life.

In September 1963, Pamela embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship, marrying the love of her life, Wayne Pearce Taylor, Sr. Their union spanned an incredible 60 years, during which they built a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. Pamela and Wayne raised two children, Tracy and Pearce.

Pamela was a woman of unwavering Christian faith and found solace and inspiration as a devoted member of Screven Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions, and providing her with strength and comfort through every season.

Pamela was a vibrant soul who found joy in simple pleasures. She loved working on her word searches, a hobby that brought her both relaxation and mental stimulation. Pamela's infectious smile could light up any room, and she carried that warmth into her role as a loving grandmother to her two cherished grandchildren.

An avid sports lover, Pamela had a particular passion for college football. Her enthusiasm for the game and her favorite teams added an extra layer of excitement to family gatherings and game days.

Pamela dedicated 23 years of her life to the Georgetown School System, where she served as a Teacher's Assistant until her retirement in June 1998. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she played an integral role in shaping the lives of the students she encountered.

In her younger years, Pamela was not only a cheerleader but also a formidable athlete who played guard in basketball. Her skills were so remarkable that she earned the prestigious All-State Award, showcasing her talent and dedication to the sport.

Pamela's commitment to her community was further demonstrated through her 10-year tenure as the Director of Sunday School at Lakewood Baptist Church. Her leadership and dedication left an indelible mark on the lives of those she served and inspired.

One of Pamela's greatest joys was found in the kitchen. She loved to cook, and her home was always filled with the aroma of delicious meals. Pamela had an open-hearted generosity, always having food on the stove for anyone who dropped by, welcoming them with warmth and nourishment.

Pamela is survived by her loving husband Wayne, her children Tracy E. Taylor Bangs, (David) of Greensboro, GA, Wayne P. Taylor, Jr. (Denise) of Greenwood, SC, her grandsons Wayne P. Taylor, III, and Davis J. Taylor of Greenwood, SC. Her sisters Charlene Oyler Freeman (Gerald) and Charlotte Oyler (Cotton) and many nieces and nephews who all adored their Aunt Pam.

Pamela is predeceased by her brother David S. Oyler (Judd) of Marietta, GA, whose memory she cherished with love.

A memorial service to celebrate Pamela's life and faith will be held on January 5th, 2024, at Noon at Screven Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends and well-wishers at 11 am, offering an opportunity to share memories and offer condolences. Entombment will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
