Paul Loren Yarborough was escorted home by his Savior Jesus Christ on July 16, 2021 at the young age of 74. Born in Charleston he grew up in Darlington and lived many years in Lexington. Paul was a proud graduate of Spartanburg Junior College and Wofford College. After teaching math in elementary school, he began his insurance career in Columbia, SC with South Carolina Farm Bureau in 1972. He started a residential construction company in 1997 where he focused on custom home building in both Lexington and Georgetown counties. He was also a licensed realtor affiliated with Peace Sotheby's International Realty, Pawleys Island. Paul retired in 1990 from the South Carolina Army National Guard Field Hospital Unit in Columbia as a Sergeant First Class with 22 years of service.
Paul had a servant's heart. He served his church family as a Junior Warden, sang in the choir and was a Stephen Minister where he was able to care for those experiencing difficult times in life.
In addition, Paul served his community well. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown for 17 years and served as President from 2011-2012. He served on the board of Teach My People in Pawleys Island as he was passionate about sharing the love of Christ with the children in his community. He was also a current board member of Focused Living Ministries in Columbia where he was instrumental in mentoring men to walk with Christ while loving and leading their families.
Paul was a Harley rider and Corvette enthusiast. A member of Old Coots on Scoots (chapter 32) he was assigned the nickname of "Rev." As ride leader, he always led the group in prayer. Paul rode his Harley across the country a couple of times with his best buddy Larry True Huggins while Claire would land occasionally along the route via commercial air to join them. He and Claire loved to travel.
To his family he was affectionately known as "Paul Pie." He was our beloved leader, our teacher, our coach, our protector and provider. Most importantly, our "Paul Pie" took Jesus everywhere he went and made sure everyone knew the love of Christ.
We want to thank the medical professionals who cared for Paul during his illness. We also want to thank the many prayer warriors who sustained our family with constant prayer over the last couple of months.
If you would like to honor Paul, please donate to Focused Living Ministries with a donation to Focusedliving.com/donate or mail to 124 East Selwood Lane, Columbia, SC 29212 or to AllSaintsPawleys.org or mail to 3560 Kings River Road, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
