Georgetown: Mrs. Pauline Sturcken Altman, 89, widow of the late Laurice G. Altman, Sr., died at her residence Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006. Mrs. Altman was born March 1, 1917, in Charleston. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Sturcken and Frances Bolchez Sturcken. Mrs. Altman was cafeteria manager for Kensington Elementary and Howard High Schools. She retired as secretary/bookkeeper for Food Services with the Georgetown County School District. Mrs. Altman was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. She was a past president of St. Mary's Catholic Women's Club and a past member of the Altar Society and Church Choir. Surviving are: four sons and one daughter, Laurice G. Altman, Jr. and wife Faye of Georgetown, Frances Green and husband Greg of Granville, Ohio, Martin Altman and wife Sharon of Parkersburg, W. V., Paul Altman and wife Joy of Mt. Pleasant, and Donald Altman and wife Donna of Beaufort; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, December 3, 2006, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight with Rosary services at six. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, December 5, 2006, at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
