Andrews:
Pearle Abbott Floyd Barrineau, 90, widow of Freddie James Barrineau, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Hospice of Charleston Hospice Center in Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Barrineau was born in Green Sea on August 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Johnce Floyd and Sarah Helen Shelley Floyd. She grew up in Green Sea and graduated from Green Sea High School in 1940. Mrs. Barrineau earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Limestone College in Gaffney in June of 1944. She taught school for 34 years and retired in March of 1979. Mrs. Barrineau was a member of First Baptist Church of Andrews, where she taught the 16 year old girl's Sunday school class for almost 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, and working in her flower garden.
Surviving are: a number of nieces and nephews, including Thomas O'Neal Barrineau, Jr. of Charleston, who she thought of as her son, and Patrice Payne Hooper of Daniel Island, who she thought of as her daughter. In addition to her husband, who she married on August 12, 1960, and her parents, Mrs. Barrineau was predeceased by six sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Sapp. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church parlor from ten until eleven o'clock.
