Obituary

Georgetown: Peggy Ellen Dunn Stockly finished her earthly journey at age 91 and began her eternal life on Friday morning July 19, 2019. She was born in Ridley Park, Virginia to Rowland I. and Brighta Wolfe Dunn of Westchester, PA. She married Charles Wilson Stockly in November of 1947 in Wilmington, DE. They later moved to Georgetown, SC . They were both active members of Prince George Winyah church. She lost Charlie, her loving husband of 63 years, in September of 2010. She was also predeceased in death by her mother and father and also her two brothers, Donald Dunn and Grant Dunn. She is survived by her sister in law Mrs. Grant (Janet) Dunn and their children Robyn D. Newman, Scott Dunn and Adam A. Dunn. She is also survived by her brother Donald Dunn's children, Robert A. Dunn and James F. Dunn. Peggy is also survived by her brother-in-law, A. Holmes Stockly (Doris "DeeDee") of Falmouth, Maine and their children, Elsie Stockly (god-daughter), Marianna Tupper and Ayres Stockly. Peggy also has a god-son, S.R. Smith and a god-daughter Janet Myrtle Washburn with whom she has remained close over the years and whom she cared about very much. Her favorite times were spent with friends and she had so many wonderful, caring friends: a close friend who saw to her welfare after Charlie's death and whose loving family made sure Peggy spent every holiday at their table; her Church family and her priests who visited her often; her close group of lady friends, that she had known for many years, and with whom she enjoyed celebrating life, especially eating out and birthday parties; one of her dearest and closest friend that was always there for her to the end, she called her "Sister"; a dear neighbor family who was also always there for her, and especially their teenage son who was so special to her; the ladies that cleaned her house often went above and beyond, even to coming to her in the middle of the night if she needed them; and last, but not least the two young ladies who spent their days and nights with Peggy for the past two years, loving her and taking care of her until she entered into eternal rest with our heavenly Father. Wonderful parents, husband, family, and friends! Peggy was truly blessed by her heavenly Father and we are all blessed to have known her. In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Pastoral Care Committee of Prince George Winyah Church, PO Box 674, Georgetown, SC 29442-0674.
