IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy Joyce Sharpe
Ward
January 23, 1936 – March 23, 2025
Peggy Joyce Sharpe Ward, widow of Collie E. Ward, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Born January 23, 1936, in Greenville, NC, she was the daughter of Edna Shirley Sharpe and James F. Sharpe.
Mrs. Ward was a devoted member of Screven Baptist Church, the Esther Sunday School Class, and The Dorcas Circle. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, spending time in prayer, and being with her family and friends. She was a former daycare worker and children's Sunday school teacher.
Surviving is one son, William E. Ward (Amber) of Belmont, NC; one daughter, Sandra Ward Johnson (Ray) of Georgetown, SC; two grandchildren, Josh Johnson (Kara) of Columbia, SC and Rebekah Joyce Johnson of Georgetown, SC; two great grandchildren, Michael Raymond Johnson and Allison Marie Johnson, both of Columbia, SC; and two siblings, James Sharpe (Tamara) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Shirley Howard of North Augusta, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of 63 years; a great grandchild, Madelynn Joyce Johnson; and three special sisters in law.
Mrs. Ward will be profoundly missed by her friends and family, yet they find solace in this Bible verse that held great significance to her: For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Tidelands Community Hospice.
Services will be held at Screven Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive visitors one hour prior. Burial will be at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
