Georgetown: Phil Cecil McDilda, Jr., 70, died Monday, August 1, 2011, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. McDilda was born in Ocala, Fla. on September 25, 1940, a son of Edna Brown McDilda and the late Phil Cecil McDilda. He was a graduate of Newberry High School in Newberry, Fla., where he lettered in four sports. Mr. McDilda attended Florida Technical College in Jacksonville, Fla. and Lake City Fla. Community College. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard. Mr. McDilda played both amateur and professional tournament golf. Mr. McDilda was owner of Precision Landscape Care in Gainesville, Fla., until he moved to Georgetown sixteen years ago. He was currently on the staff of Debordieu Golf Club. Mr. McDilda was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and served as the Adult Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are: his wife, Dalzell "Dal" Ginn McDilda of Georgetown; a son Rich McDilda (Laura) of Carbondale, Col.; a daughter, Leigh Abrams (Jeff) of Newberry, Fla.; his mother of Newberry, Fla.; a brother, Doug McDilda (Frances) of Alachua, Fla.; six grandchildren, Joslyn McDilda, Rich McDilda, Jr., Jessica M. Vogel, Brenden Abrams, Savannah Abrams, and Jana Abrams; and two great-grandchildren, Alice McDilda and Blake Vogel. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Friday morning, August 5, 2011, at Newberry First Baptist Church in Newberry Fla. Burial will follow in Newberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Newberry Baptist Church prior to the service Friday from ten until eleven. A memorial service will be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church at a later date.
