Obituary

Pinkney N. Swails, 78, passed away on February 12, 2026, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Marion Swails and Azilee Self Swails.

Pinkney was the devoted husband of Debra Swails, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his life. He is survived by four children: Leslee (Thomas) Hanna, Elizabeth Swails (Bradley Barnes), Jennifer Swails, and Robert Swails. He was a proud grandfather to Ameera Barnes, Micheal Swails, Aabel Sanders, Austin Swails, Azilee Hanna, and Angela Swails, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren.

A quiet, simple man, Pinkney lived a life defined by steadiness, humility, and devotion to those he loved. He retired twice from Georgetown Steel, a testament to both his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life like fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Some of his most treasured memories were the daddy-daughter dances he shared with his girls and family vacations in the mountains of Maggie Valley, especially those spent with his wife and grandchildren.

A family-led service will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
