The Rev. George Allen Fletcher, 85, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Presbyterian Home of S. C.
Rev. Fletcher was born in Bristol, Tennessee on November 27, 1922, the son of the late Eugene Abbott Fletcher and Edith Kinzel Allen Fletcher. He graduated from King College in Bristol, Tennessee and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Rev. Fletcher also attended the Chicago Art Institute and the Sorbonne in Paris, France. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Rev. Fletcher was a Presbyterian minister and served churches in Nicholasville and Wilmore, Kentucky, and New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church in McClellanville.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, March 26, 2008 at New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Walter G. Cook. Burial will follow in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Cemetery.
Survivors include: cousins, Dorothy Detlie Herndon of Atlanta, Georgia, Martin O. Detlie of Hampton, Virginia, and Melissa McDonald of Woodstock, Georgia; and a sister-in-law, Christine R. Fletcher of Pompano Beach, Florida.
