Andrews:
Richard "Ricky" Wendell Cumbie, 60, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cumbie was born in Kingstree on May 28, 1955, a son of Mattie Deola McAlister Cumbie and the late Bobby Rhem Cumbie. He grew up in Andrews, graduated from Williamsburg High School, and attended Williamsburg Technical College. Mr. Cumbie was the former owner of Conway Machine Works. He loved outdoor cooking and was known for his special bar-b-que sauce.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Andrews, are: two sons, Richard "Eric" W. Cumbie, II (Sumer) of Conway and Dustin Cumbie (Kassi) of Aynor; two grandchildren, Marley and Kyler Cumbie; a brother, Bobby R. Cumbie, Jr. (Pam) of Andrews; a nephew, Lance Cumbie (Ashley) of Andrews; three uncles, Allen "Sonny" Cumbie, Phillip K. Cumbie and Bill McAlister; six aunts, Catherine C. Ward, Mary Ann C. Thomas, Freda C. Wilson, Inez C. McGee, Libby Matthews, and Rose Carraway.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016, at eleven o'clock in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Edward Hardee. Burial will follow in the Cemetery. The family will receive friends from ten until eleven o'clock prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel.
