Obituary

Georgetown: Rita Levy Fogel, 100, widow of Julius Fogel, died Saturday, January 29, 2011, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fogel was born in Bishopville on September 17, 1910, a daughter of the late Oscar Levy and Minnie Needle Levy. She attended Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Md. and taught piano and voice in Georgetown for many years. Mrs. Fogel was a founding member and oldest member of Temple Beth Elohim. Adorable Rit will be sorely missed by her family, friends, students, and most of The Western World. Surviving are: a daughter, Rosalyn F. Silverstein (Phil) of Anderson; two grandchildren, Janis Hillman (Dan) of N. Augusta and Benjamin Silverstein (Christi) of Anderson; and three great-grandchildren, Phillip Silverstein and Adam Silverstein, both of Anderson, and Hannah Hillman of N. Augusta. Funeral services will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 30, 2011, at the graveside in Temple Beth Elohim Cemetery. Officiating will be Robert Schimek.
