IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Louis "Bubba"
Bowers
November 22, 1967 – February 21, 2026
Robert Louis "Bubba" Bowers, 58, passed away on February 21, 2026, at his home.
Bubba was born to the late Robert L. Bowers and Claudia Lynn Watford Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Stephen McElveen, Sr., brother-in-law, Donald McElveen, and his beloved fur baby, Chico.
Bubba graduated from Andrews Academy in 1986 and later attended Baptist College in Charleston, South Carolina. He dedicated his working life to the steel mill in Georgetown, beginning his career there in 1988 and retiring after many years of service. He took great pride in his work and cared deeply for his steel mill family.
A devoted family man, Bubba loved his family fiercely and often said his greatest purpose was to "take care of his girls." He was very much a creature of habit and found comfort in routine, taking pride in the details of everyday life, especially his shoes, which always had to match his outfit.
Bubba loved traveling to the mountains, where he made sure to visit his four favorite stops every time: Applewood, the knife store, Bass Pro Shops, and the junkyard. These trips brought him joy and were a reflection of his simple pleasures and steadfast traditions.
He was also an avid supporter of Oceanside High School and Coastal Carolina University football, a loyal fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Dallas Cowboys, and faithfully watched wrestling every night.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Stephanie M. Bowers; his daughter, Ashlynn Bowers (Tyler); special daughter, Jessica Woods; and his fur baby, Nala, who believed she was his personal nurse.
He is also survived by his fur grandbabies, Deacon James and Knox; special granddaughter, Norah Cooper; sister, Belinda B. Wilson (Allen); and nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved: Carlin McKenzie (Sheldon Banks), Miles McElveen (Kandace), Jon-Allen Wilson (Carly), and Kloey Wilson. He also leaves behind his great-nieces, Kenlin McKenzie, Ella Banks, and Jacey Wilson.
Additional survivors include his mother-in-law, Inez McElveen; brothers-in-law, Steve McElveen, Jr., Bruce McElveen, and Richard McElveen; sister-in-law, Debra Jackson (Mark); numerous aunts and uncles; a dear friend who was like a brother, Mike Jones; and a special nephew, MJ Jones.
A funeral service will be held at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church on Thursday, February 26, at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
To honor Bubba's memory, please consider making a donation to the Lupus Foundation of America or the American Diabetes Association .
