Georgetown:
Robert Faulkner Glenn, 80, died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Glenn was born in Fayetteville, N.C. on April 8, 1931, a son of the late Eric Faulkner Glenn and Mabel Lancaster Glenn. He graduated high school from Carlisle Military Academy. Mr. Glenn served on active duty as the NCO in the U. S. Army in Salzburg, Austria for three years before returning to serve in the National Guard. He commanded the 4th Battalion of the 178th Field Artillery, the Swamp Fox Battalion. Mr. Glenn was later promoted to Colonel and retired as Brigadier General. He was known as an outstanding Commander.
Mr. Glenn was a charter member of the Field Artillery Society of S. C. Militia, and also a member of The American Legion and The Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was also a Past Master at the Masonic Lodge Winyah 40 (2006) and the Lafayette Lodge (1971). Mr. Glenn retired from International Paper Co., where he worked as a Supervisor of Process Control. He was an active member and Elder at Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Glenn is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Barbara Harrelson Glenn of Georgetown; a son, Robert Faulkner Glenn, II (Terri)of Georgetown; and three grandchildren, Robert Faulkner Glenn, III (Trey), Katherine Marie Glenn (Katie), and Michael Laurence Glenn.
Mr. Glenn was predeceased by his sister, Mabel Glenn Webster.
Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen H. Wilkins. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
