Pawleys Island:
Robert Earl "Smicky" Hardee, 75, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Hardee was born on February 20, 1941, a son of the late Earl Basil Hardee and Maggie Elizabeth Kennedy Hardee. He attended Georgetown County schools and graduated from Winyah High School in 1960. Mr. Hardee took his basic training at Fort Jackson and served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Hardee worked at International Paper for a few years after he was out of school until he and his brother started Hardee Construction and ran the business until their retirement.
"Smicky" loved sports and participated in them throughout his high school career and beyond. He was known for his great sense of humor, his love of NASCAR and Clemson football. He felt there was no place he would rather be than on the beach at Pawley's Island and he passed that passion and love of the coastal life along to the entire family.
Mr. Hardee is survived by his wife, Patsy Hardee of Pawley's Island; a son, Michael Hardee (Gayle) of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Anne Hardee of Pawley's Island; a sister, Faye Porter; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Hardee and Joyce Prevatte (Harry); four grandchildren, Michael Hardee, Jr. (Emily), Lawson Hardee, Justin Hardee and Lillian Hardee; three nieces, Donna Noury, Tracy Porter and Shannon Dunlap; two nephews, Craig Hardee and Mark Porter; and several great nieces, nephews and many loving family members.
In addition to his parents Mr. Hardee is predeceased by: his son, Russell Hardee and his brother William "Bill" Hardee.
Funeral Services will be at eleven o'clock Saturday morning, November 19, 2016, at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Greg Thompson and the Rev. Shane Johnson. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 18, 2016 from five until seven o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
