Pawleys Island:

Ronald Lee Murrell, 78, of Pawleys Island, climbed the stairway to Heaven

March 16, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his wife of 56 years and loving

family.

Ronnie was born October 16, 1944 in Charleston, a son of the late Kirt Thomas

Murrell and Lona Mae Player Murrell. The Murrell's relocated to Pawley's Island

when Ronnie was three years old. Ronnie celebrated the rest of his life in Georgetown

County as an avid hunter, fisherman and lover of the outdoors. He met many friends

and wore many hats at Caledonia and True Blue Golf Club, and thoroughly enjoyed

serving the community. He enjoyed cooking for others Ronnie was a founding

member of the Black Powder Club. He spent many hours coaching on a baseball field,

football field or advocating for his church. He started the men's club raising money

for Christ the King Church where he was a member for many years. Ronnie was a

storyteller and had many stories to share every Thanksgiving, while surrounded by

family and friends. Ronnie was a member of Masonic Lodge #409.

He is predeceased by a daughter; Robin Denise Murrell; sister, Patricia Ann

Murdock; brother, Thomas K. Murrell; father and mother, Kirk and Lona Mae

Murrell; father and mother in-laws, Charles W. Cusick and Florence M. Cusick.

Mr. Murrell is survived by his wife; Sheila Cusick Murrell; his son Christopher

William Murrell (Nancy); a daughter, Daphne Elizabeth Murrell Morris (Kenny);

brothers-in-law, Phillip David Cusick ( Peggy) and John Charles Cusick ( Barbra). He

is also survived by his grandson Ronald William Murrell (Will) of Andrews, South

Carolina; granddaughters, Bailey Elizabeth Ellison of Raleigh, NC, Julia K Murrell

(Katie), Emily Florence Ellison of New Bern, NC; great-grandchild Kinsley E.

Murrell, as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be two o'clock Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Christ the

King Church of Pawleys Island. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
