Murrells Inlet:
Rosa Lee Miller Joyner, 89, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Mrs. Joyner was born in Georgetown on June 25, 1915, a daughter of the late Charlie Richard Miller and Lizzie Wall Miller. She was a retired lunchroom manager and worked for Murrells Inlet Grammar School and Waccamaw Elementary School. Mrs. Joyner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet. She had served as the Woman's Missionary Union Director, Homecoming Committee member, worked with Vacation Bible Schools, and was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Joyner was the widow of Walter Ray Joyner.
Surviving are: five daughters, Betty McManus and her husband Clyde of Sumter and Garden City, Marye Kelley and her husband John of Jacksonville, Fla., Jackie McConnell and her husband H. Laverne of Georgetown, Patricia Klump of Murrells Inlet, and Frances Teems and her husband Lamar of Conway; a son, Ray Joyner and his wife Debbie of James Island; a sister, Rena Anderson of Murrells Inlet; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Joyner was predeceased by a brother, George James Miller.
Funeral services will be on Friday morning, July 30, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet at eleven o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Matthew Jones and The Rev. Schuyler Peterson. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 29, 2004, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
