Rose Marie Roberts, 86, of Georgetown, SC died on December 1, 2024, at Oak Hollow of Georgetown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 7, 1938, in Pickford, MI, she was the daughter of Eugene Desormeaux and Katherine Kowalski. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James D. Roberts, Sr., her sisters, Lois Skalmowski, Annabelle Bentley, Darlene Sasseville, Albertine Savoie, and Joanne Fleury, and her brothers, Edward and Richard Desormeaux.
Rose was the seventh of twelve children who worked on the family farm near Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She met her future husband, Jim "J. D." Roberts, an Air Force Staff Sergeant, on a blind date. They married and eventually had three children, with the family moving around to various Air Force bases before settling in Georgetown, after Jim retired from the USAF in 1968. There she embraced her roles as a homemaker, a member of the Nazarene Church, and a great neighbor.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Debra Roberts Baker (Gene) of Georgetown, SC, her sons, James D. "Jimmy" Roberts, Jr. of Georgetown, SC, and Walter Roberts (Cheryl McCoy) of Dallas, TX. She has four grandchildren, Michael Baker, Sr. (Ashley), Jennifer Cohen, Trace Baker, and Elizabeth Baker, and three great-grandchildren, Zoey Baker, Penny Rose Baker, and Michael Baker, Jr, all residing in Georgetown. Rose also has four surviving siblings, her sisters, Dolores Stark, Phyllis Libby, and her brothers, Clifford and Roger Desormeaux, who all reside throughout Michigan. Finally, Rose has many nieces, nephews, and cousins living throughout the U. S.
Rose's children will be holding a private memorial service at Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home in Georgetown on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Pastor Rod Reid of Victory Christian Fellowship Church will be presiding.

The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory, 222 St. James St., Georgetown, is handling the arrangements.
