Pawleys Island:
Rosemary Ann Evans Darrow, 93, wife of John David Darrow, died Friday, October 29, 2021, at their residence.
She was born in Amsterdam, OH on May 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Michael Dean Evans and Mary Pauline Stropki Evans.
Rosemary was a devout Catholic and member of Saint Mary, Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. She continually emphasized that she loved her family and she wanted them to know that she knew they loved her. She had an effervescent personality, infectious laugh, radiant smile, and sparking blue eyes. She was a generous person and gave gifts that fit people's personalities. Rosemary was appreciative of relationships, and of any gift no matter how small. She had a passion for tennis. She loved teaching her family members how to play, and they all enjoy this lifelong sport. Rosemary also had a passion for wearing outfits with distinctive style and loved finding bargains.
Rosemary was educated as a bookkeeper. She assisted John throughout their time in his medical practice with the bookkeeping and management of the cleaning service.
Rosemary adored her husband. She and John were married for 65 years.
She would say to John, "I love you more than anything," and would say to Mary Beth, "I love you to pieces," and to Patty, "Patty, my love." She was exceedingly pleased when her family was happy and content. Rosemary was very organized, punctual, classy, loving, loyal, polite, beautiful, poised, observant, and tidy. She enjoyed having a clean house. She had a sharp memory her entire life. Rosemary enjoyed inquiring and keeping up with the latest news and activities of her family and friends. She spoiled her grandchildren with gifts and Werther's candy. She always welcomed new neighbors with one of her famous pies, which meant a second one was baked for us. She was a big fan of butter and the finer things in life (and butter was considered a finer thing).
She will be very missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by: her husband, John David Darrow of Georgetown, SC; two daughters, Patricia Ann Darrow Scruggs (Jerry Lawrence Scruggs) and Mary Beth Darrow (Jacob Shiloah) both of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Nathan John Scruggs of Las Vegas, NV, Phillip Charles Scruggs of Locust Grove, GA and Carmen Rose Scruggs of Little Rock, AR; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Alexander Scruggs of Collierville, TN.
A Mass will be at eleven o'clock Monday, November 8, 2021, at Saint Mary, Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
