Pawleys Island:
Ross Moore Lindsay, Jr., 88, died on June 26, 2013, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston following heart surgery.
Ross was born in Bennettsville on December 1, 1924, the son of the late Ross M. and Louise "Tedie" Lindsay. Ross served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a rural mail carrier. Ross was a born-again Christian and served as a lay minister for several churches, nursing homes, and the chain gang camp in Bennettsville before moving to Pawleys Island in 1989.
Ross was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mary Anne Matheson Lindsay in 2007. Ross and Mary Anne were active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Bennettsville and All Saints Church in Pawleys Island. Ross was one of the founding members of Pawleys Mission Abbey, a new Anglican church in Pawleys Island. He served on the prayer team and was a leader of the Wednesday healing service at All Saints Church for many years. He also served on a mission team in Kiev, Ukraine with Evangelist John Guest in June 1992 and September 1993. Ross loved the Lord, loved to fish, and loved his Pekinese and constant companion, "Molly."
Ross is survived by his daughter, Anne "Rooney" Mincey, and her husband, Jim; and by his son, Ross "Buddy" Lindsay, III, and his wife, Marie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kenneth L. McQuage of Wesson, Mississippi; J. Walker, McQuage of Charlotte, N.C.; Mary Ross McQuage of Charleston; Annelisa Lindsay of Oxford, U.K. and Washington, D.C.; Laura F. Lindsay of Mt. Pleasant; and Ross M. Lindsay, IV and Catharine A. Lindsay of Pawleys Island; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at All Saints Church Cemetery on Kings River Road in Pawleys Island at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. The family will receive friends following the service.
