Georgetown:
Roy Hilburn, Sr., 59, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Medical University of S.C. Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Hilburn was born in Whiteville, N.C. on October 23, 1944, a son of the late Ruben Hilburn and Gertie Mae Gore Hilburn. He grew up in Tabor City, N.C. and moved to Georgetown in 1962. Mr. Hilburn was the owner of Hilburn Heating and Air Conditioning Company.
Surviving are: his wife, Frankie Joye Hilburn of Georgetown; two sons, Kenneth R. Hilburn and his wife Robin and Roy Hilburn, II, all of Georgetown; a daughter, Sherry H. Poston and her husband Wayne of Georgetown; three brothers, Floyd Hilburn and Arthur Hilburn, both of Tabor City, and Brookie J. Hilburn of High Point, N.C.; five sisters, Cathleen Floyd of N. Myrtle Beach, Josephine Ward of Tabor City, Irene Shaver of Houston, Tex., Joyce Russ of Loris, and Judy Hilburn of Nakina, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Benji Hilburn, Brooke Hilburn, Taylor Poston, and Nicholas Poston, all of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2003, at Ringel Heights Baptist Church at two o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Themos J. Cribb and The Rev. Tommy E. Barnhill. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 7, 2003, from six until eight o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
