McClellanville:
Ruby Seigler McClellan, 92, died at home on October 19, 2009. She was born April 3, 1917 in Round O, a twin daughter of John Irvin and Viola Beach Seigler. She was the widow of the late Rev. J. O. McClellan, Jr., with whom she shared her life for 70 years.
God blessed their home with five children: James Osgood McClellan, III, Wilhelmina McClellan Couch, and Ann McClellan Gilliam, all of McClellanville; John Seigler McClellan of Georgetown; and Susan McClellan Kobrovsky of Sullivan's Island.
She had twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by: two sisters, Jewel Seigler Pop of Mount Pleasant and Mildred Weeks Holliday of Conway; and an honorary daughter, Patty Just Long of Sumter. Ruby was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. When her husband went into the ministry, she partnered with him in church life.
She was a retired employee of the Colleton County Memorial Hospital.
She loved being with her family, crocheting, and working in her flower garden.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, October 22, 2009, at McClellanville United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jimmy Harper and the Rev. Drew Collins. Burial will follow in McClellanville United Methodist Cemetery.
