Obituary

Georgetown: Ruth Platt Flanders, 88, widow of Henry Corbin Flanders, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at her residence. Mrs. Flanders was born in Georgetown on December 26, 1922, a daughter of the late John David Platt and Elizabeth Fox Platt. She graduated from Winyah High School and attended Perry Business School. Mrs. Flanders was a former employee of International Paper Company and was assistant to the late Dr. Frances Doyle. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class. Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Flanders Chinnes (Ron) of Mt. Pleasant; and a son, Danny Corbin Flanders of Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at eleven o'clock at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
