Pawleys Island: Ruth Sheridan Macklen, 93, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. Mrs. Macklen was born in Homestead, Pa. on July 14, 1916, a daughter of the late James Richard Sheridan and Mary Anna Daniels Sheridan. She grew up in Pa. and moved to Georgetown after her marriage in 1935. Mrs. Macklen moved to Pawleys Island in 1987. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgetown. Mrs. Macklen was predeceased by: her husband, Ralph Waldo Macklen; and a grandson, Guy Houser. Surviving are: two daughters, Mary Lou M. (Elwood) Houser of South Hampton, Pa. and Bonita Springs, Fla. and Patricia Ann Macklen of Pawleys Island; a step-daughter, Kathleen M. (Archie) Futrell of Socastee; four grandchildren, Forrest Houser, Bruce Houser, Scott Houser, and Sara Ruth Fair, all of Pa.; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Friday morning, January 22, 2010, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Arden Hallman.
