Andrews:
Rutledge C. "Bubba" Alford, 93, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Alford was born in Florence County on March 21, 1921, a son of the late Ellie Parker Alford and Alice Hyman Alford. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Alford was a farmer, carpenter and logger, and had a great love for fishing. He was a member of Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served in the past as a deacon, a Sunday school superintendent, and a Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are: his wife of 64 years, Kizzie Collins Alford of Andrews; two sons, Caroll Alford (Patricia) and Don Alford (Deonna), both of Andrews; two daughters, Judy A. Gray of Greeleyville and Cheryl A. Davis (Jeff) of Cope; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. John Henry Alford (Mary) and Ethridge "Noot" Alford (Dora), both of Andrews; and a sister Evelyn A. Swails of Andrews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Alford was predeceased by: a son, Jimmy Alford; a brother, Nathan Alford; and three sisters, Louise Evans, Lizzie Mae Cox, and Aline Parrott.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2015, at Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Daniel Jackson and the Rev. Thad Jacobs. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, March 20, 2015, at Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church from six until eight o'clock.
