Pawleys Island:
Sada Ann (Cox) Buck, after gracefully battling a long-term illness, peacefully passed into our Lord God's loving embrace during the early morning of Saturday, January 30, 2021. Her final wishes fulfilled; to be home, to have communion in her faith, and to be surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born on July 8, 1937 in Quantico, VA. She was the daughter of the late Capt. Jesse Frank Cox and Gladys Viola (Clark) Cox.
Sada's early life, as the daughter of a Marine Air officer, was on bases in the USA, as well as her high school years in post WW2 Japan. Asheville, NC always remained her "home base" and where she is to be buried alongside family.
She was studying to become an RN at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, when she met William Amos Buck, Jr. who was studying dentistry.
They were married August 17, 1957 and moved to Myrtle Beach SC in 1959, working together to set up Dr. Buck's dental practice and start a family. During this time as a new mother, she also practiced nursing at the Myrtle Beach Memorial Hospital. Sada's penchant, to become involved with projects, causes and interests, also blossomed, and kept her involved in learning unique things her entire life.
She taught nursing at Coastal Carolina School of Nursing for many years, while raising teens. She later worked with the AIDS group to give support to those in need, combined with many years of service to the Red Cross, and as a docent at Prince George Winyah.
For two decades, Sada and Bill hosted and housed students from all over the world in their home. Many staying for various lengths of time, from Africa, Singapore, Japan, France, Poland, Germany, Lebanon, England, & Switzerland, as well as other countries.
She and Bill had many worldwide travel experiences in places such as; Russia, China & Europe. They toured most of the USA and surrounding countries over the years by RV camping, on vacations or cruises, and many times as a family. Sada moved to Pawleys Island in 1988 and kept up with everyone, while making many new friends, and enjoying her family close by. After 54 years of marriage, "MeMaw" lost "Doc Bill" in July 18, 2011, and her brother Clark Cox in 2020.
She is survived by her three children: Thomas Brewster Buck (Jamie), John Franklin Buck (Cindy), Sarah Lacy (Buck) Anderson (Sammy), her grandchildren: Dalton Todd, Mary Ashley (Mercer) Bush (Joe), Wm. David, Wm. Pacey, Paulina (Buck) Gore (Joe), F. Wardlaw (Madi), Ellen Gray, Caroline and Juliet, her great grandchildren: Saylor, Andrew, Sully.
She was loved and adored by her family and too many friends to name.
Appreciated for her intriguing stories, curiosity, wisdom and ability to love beyond measure, she will be missed. She leaves each of us with a fine example of a blessed life, that was fully and well lived.
Graveside services will be Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Green Hills Cemetery, 25 New Leicester Hwy, Asheville, NC 28806 at eleven o'clock
