Andrews:
Sam Wash Creel, 86, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown.
Mr. Creel was born in Scranton on October 29, 1921, a son of the late EThel Creel and Fannie Hyman Creel. He served for a time in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Creel moved to Andrews about forty-two years ago and was a farmer.
Mr. Creel was predeceased by: his wife, M. Margaret Moon Creel; two sons, Samuel Curtis Creel and W. Larry Creel; and twin grandchildren, John and Olivia Creel.
Surviving are: three daughters, Barbara Jean Matta of Sumter, Gladys Nell Owens of Greenwood, and Debra Ann Tisdale of Andrews; two sons, James Allen Creel and John Ralston Creel, both of Andrews; a brother, Eugene Creel of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Georgia C. Barrineau of Linden, Ala.; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be one o'clock Monday afternoon, December 24, 2007, in Earle United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. J. Robert "Bob" Huggins. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
