Andrews: Sam Wash Creel, 86, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Mr. Creel was born in Scranton on October 29, 1921, a son of the late EThel Creel and Fannie Hyman Creel. He served for a time in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Creel moved to Andrews about forty-two years ago and was a farmer. Mr. Creel was predeceased by: his wife, M. Margaret Moon Creel; two sons, Samuel Curtis Creel and W. Larry Creel; and twin grandchildren, John and Olivia Creel. Surviving are: three daughters, Barbara Jean Matta of Sumter, Gladys Nell Owens of Greenwood, and Debra Ann Tisdale of Andrews; two sons, James Allen Creel and John Ralston Creel, both of Andrews; a brother, Eugene Creel of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Georgia C. Barrineau of Linden, Ala.; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be one o'clock Monday afternoon, December 24, 2007, in Earle United Methodist Church.
