Sandra Sullivan Ricks, 84, passed away on September 10, 2026. She was born September 1, 1942, the daughter of the late William Dewey Sullivan and Vivian “Miller” Nobles Sullivan.
Sandra was a graduate of Winyah High School and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Columbia. She devoted her career to nursing, serving in many capacities throughout the years, including hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors’ offices. Her dedication to caring for others extended beyond her professional career. She was a recipient of the Clara Barton Honor Award for her volunteer work with the American Red Cross.
Sandra was a member of Prince George Winyah Parish. Above all, she loved her family and friends and treasured the relationships she shared with those closest to her.
She is survived by her sons, Robert E. Ricks III of Asheville, North Carolina, and Jeffery A. Ricks and his wife, Amanda, of Concord, North Carolina; grandchildren, Amelia Erin Ricks of Oregon and Alyssa Ricks of Concord, North Carolina; and Christopher Ricks of Florida.
She is also survived by her siblings, Ann Tiller, Eileen Johnson (Happy), Kathy Harrelson (Jamie), Billy Sullivan (Sheila), and Robin Avant (Joey); nieces and nephews, Reed Tiller and Rob Tiller, Kelley Johnson, Amy Mitchell, Kim Forbes, Seth Sullivan and Sabrina Sullivan, Katie Evans, Caroline Avant, and Holly Avant; and special people in her life, Maxine Sullivan, Margaret Ann Elliott, and Tracy with Pruitt Health Care in Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. A private burial will take place in McClellanville.
