Pawleys Island: Shane "Austin" Calhoun, 29, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at his home. Austin was born in Greenville, SC on March 19, 1981, son of John Caldwell Calhoun II, "Smokey" and Victoria Simpson. He grew up in Pawleys and was a graduate of Waccamaw High School, where he was loved and treasured by many dear friends. Austin truly loved all sports and was a member of the football and track team. Austin followed the footsteps of his family and became a wonderfully talented carpenter. He especially loved to surf, spend time on the beach, boating and being outdoors. Austin was so very loved and we are so thankful and blessed to have had 29 years with this truly beautiful young man. He will be missed. Till we meet again. Surviving are: a son, Caleb Gleason of Socastee; his father and stepmother, Carla Schuchman Calhoun of Pawleys Island; his mother of Greenville; a sister, Nacole Calhoun of Georgetown; two step brothers, Brent Waddell of Greenville and John Curtis Yants, also of Greenville; paternal grandmother, Mary Z. Calhoun of Pawleys Island; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Simpson of Greenville. Funeral services will be at five o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, September 8, 2010 at Fireside Ministries in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Billy Anderson.
