Sollie Emanuel "S. E." Cooper, Jr., died August 18, 2015 in Kingstree.
Mr. Cooper was the son of the latte Sollie Emanuel Cooper, Sr. and Flossie Mayell Walters Cooper. He was born November 6, 1936 in Kingstree and lived in the Suttons Community of Williamsburg Co. Mr. Cooper attended Williamsburg High School and Clemson University. An avid sportsman, he played baseball and was a pitcher for the North Charleston Baseball League for eight years.
Mr. Cooper farmed and retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for both Farmers Telephone Cooperative and Santee Electric Cooperative. Mr. Cooper was recently recognized for having served fifty years on the Santee Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was predeceased by: and infant brother (Cecil); his wife and love of his life, Janice Bruorton Cooper; and his son, Sollie Emanuel "Coop" Cooper, III.
Surviving are: three daughters, Ava Kimberly "Kim" Cooper Hook (Dale) of Lexington, Beth Cooper Bishop (Terry) of Johnsonville, and Camille Cooper Burtis (Craig) of Charlotte, N. C.; five grandchildren, Tracy and Tyler Bishop, Jessica Bryte and Pierce Burtis, and Sydney Hook; a sister, Patricia Smiley; and special cousins, Ches Arnold, Robert Ernest Cooper, and Dr. Troy Gamble.
Memorial services will be two o'clock Friday afternoon, August 21, 2015, at Suttons United Methodist Church.
