Andrews:
Solon Walter Lambert, 91, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Lambert was born in Mt. Olive, N.C. on November 22, 1920, a son of the late William Benjamin Lambert, Jr. and Doolie Lambert. He grew up in Jamestown and loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Lambert was in the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army during World War II. He ran Lambert Grocery for a number of years, worked at the Navy Shipyard in Charleston, and retired as a welder from Detyens Shipyard in 1985. Mr. Lambert was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Etta Bratcher Lambert of Andrews; five sons, Roger Lambert (Karen) of Summerville, Solon "Pee Wee" Lambert (Amelia) of Georgetown, and Robert Lambert, Walter Lambert, and Deon Lambert (Robin), all of Andrews; four daughters, Lynn L. Thomas (Kenneth) and Patricia L. Elliott (Harris), both of Andrews, Annette L. Brandon (Chris) of Georgetown, and Lisa L. Wrenn (Will) of Bonneau; a brother, Arthur Lambert of Georgetown; two half-brothers, Gene Britt and Glen Britt; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and an honorary daughter, Kay Brandon of Georgetown.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lambert was predeceased by: a son; his step-mother, Camie Grady Lambert; four brothers, Hogel Lambert, Andrew Lambert, Leroy "Jack" Lambert, and Ellerbe Lambert; two sisters, Leona L. Brinson and Eula Lee L. Ackerman; and his honorary mother, Carrie Taylor.
Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock on Monday morning, January 9, 2012, at Saints Delights Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Browder. Burial will follow in Lambert Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, January 8, 2012, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church from five until seven o'clock.
