Georgetown: Stephanie Baxley-Reames, 62, wife of Newell Rivers Reames Jr., died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Reames was born March 18, 1955, in Hemingway, the daughter of Kathleen Williams Baxley and the late Lloyd Preston Baxley, Sr. She lived in Palatka, FL for a time until moving to the Choppee Community of Georgetown County. Mrs. Reames graduated from Winyah Academy and received a Registered Nurse's degree from a nursing school in Georgia. Mrs. Reames worked as a traveling nurse for many different hospitals. She was known for her athletic abilities in running track. She ran the four hundred Meters in the Amateur Olympics in Tampa, Florida, where she received several metals including a Gold Medal. Mrs. Reames was best known as "Sissy". She loved singing and playing the piano. Her cat "Boogie" of nineteen years was a companion and a great comfort. Her husband, parents, children, grandchildren and family were of the upmost importance in her life. In addition to her father, Mrs. Reames was predeceased by: a brother, Christopher W. Baxley; and a sister, Iris June Baxley. Surviving are: her husband of Georgetown; a son, Corey Neely (Lucia) of Georgetown; a daughter, Susannah Lee Neely O'Bryant (Gary) of Southside, AL; her mother of Georgetown; two sisters, Kathleen "Kathy" Crammer (Steve) and Theresa "Terry" Porter (Ted) both of Georgetown; a brother, Lloyd P. Baxley, Jr. (Connie) of Georgetown, five grandchildren, Crystyn, Alexa, Taylor and Gracey Neely and Victoria Ashby; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at two o'clock, Thursday afternoon, February 15, 2018, at Union United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. David Canine and the Rev. Wayne Elliott. Burial will be private in the Lloyd Baxley Family Cemetery off Choppee Road. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 14, 2018, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
