Georgetown:
Steven S. Juk, Sr., 83, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Juk was born in Detroit, Mich. on October 22, 1921, a son of naturalized citizens from Russia, the late Andrew and Mary Juk. He grew up in Detroit and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Juk lived in Georgetown since 1943 and was an accountant with International Paper Company for thirty-nine years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Winyah Indigo Society. Mr. Juk was also a member of the Pine Tree Club and the Quarter Century Club at the paper mill. He was a former member and past commander of American Legion Post #114.
Surviving are: his wife of sixty-one years, Mildred Avant Juk of Georgetown; a son, Dr. S. Stanley Juk, Jr. and his wife Ann of Columbia; a daughter, Susan Juk Salley and her husband Chuck of Columbia; five grandchildren, Steven Juk, Katherine Juk Draffin and her husband Stephen, Charles Salley, Ella Salley, and Alex Salley, all of Columbia; and a great-grandson, Walker Draffin of Columbia.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Monday morning, December 27, 2004, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
