Pawleys Island:
Susan Buhay Briggs, 98, widow of the late Archie Briggs passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Lakes at Litchfield.
Mrs. Briggs was born January 2, 1922, in Endicott, NY, a daughter of the late John Buhay and Anna Petro Buhay. She grew up in Endicott and graduated high school there prior to joining the US Army. While serving in World War II, Mrs. Briggs met Archie. They both served in France and England and were married in 1947. She started working in the early sixties for St. Lawrence University in the bookstore as a clerk. Mrs. Briggs worked her way up to be one of the mangers of the bookstore. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary in Canton, NY and Charlotte, NC. She moved to the Lakes of Litchfield in 2015. Susan was the only female Veteran on the last Honor Flight from SC to Washington, DC in May of 2016. Mrs. Briggs was an avid reader, loved to cook and a wonderful homemaker. She will surely be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are: three sons, John Briggs (Alice) of Pawleys Island; Stephen Briggs (Becky) of Edina, MN; and Christopher Briggs (Carrie) of Cohoes, NY; a daughter, Susan O'Connell of Vestal, NY; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at eleven o'clock May 8, 2020, at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, Pawleys Island.
