Ted L. Marsh Jr., of Georgetown, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at Tidelands Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1946, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to the late Ted L. Marsh Sr. and Mabeth Marsh.

Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married the love of his life, Ina Elliott Marsh, on March 28, 1970. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, laughter, and many cherished memories.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Elliott Marsh; his daughter, Kimberly Chapman and her husband, Joseph; his son, Ted L. Marsh III (Trevor); and his beloved grandchildren, Haley Chapman and Jacob Chapman and his fiancée, Jesse Kurkis. He is also survived by his brothers, Wade Marsh and his wife, Terry, and Dana Marsh and his wife, Renae; brother-in-law Randy Harrelson; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ted L. Marsh Sr. and Mabeth Marsh, and his beloved sister, Mindy Harrelson.

Ted was 6th generation Georgetonian and a proud graduate of Winyah High School, Class of 1964. He then went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina in 1969. Ted also proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a CTO for four years and continued his service with the National Guard for six years.

Ted had a varied and meaningful career. He shared his love of history and young people as a history teacher and girls' basketball coach at Burke High School and Pleasant Hill High School. He later began a long career with International Paper, where he worked for 33 years before retiring in 2007.

Ted had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, particularly deer and quail hunting. He was also a true history enthusiast, with a special fascination for the Civil War. His curiosity and incredible knowledge earned him a reputation among family and friends as the “original Google”—if you wanted to know something, Ted probably already knew the answer.

He also loved to travel and explore the world. Over the years, he visited approximately 20 countries and 40 states, collecting experiences and stories along the way.

Above all, Ted treasured his family and the time he spent with the people he loved. He will be remembered for his knowledge, curiosity, sense of humor, love of the outdoors and history, dedication to his country and community, and the countless memories he created with those around him.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service in Sampit Methodist Cemetery.
