Mr. Terry Samuel Cooper, age 76, of Georgetown, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Terry was born on August 11, 1949, to James W. Cooper and Mary Louise High Cooper.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed coaching youth basketball and softball for local churches. He was well known by his childhood nickname, "Honky Tonk." Terry was a faithful member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church for many years until his health declined, and he was also a frequent visitor of Screven Baptist Church. He retired as project manager from Myrtle Beach National Golf Resort in 2001.
On August 29, 1970, Terry married the love of his life, Darlene Hickman Cooper, and together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
He is survived by his son, Terrence Cooper (Sharon) of McDonough, GA; two siblings, Louise Altman and Lynwood Cooper (Donna), both of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Brian Cooper of Wilmington, NC, Steven Cooper of Georgetown, Brandi Cooper (JT) of North Myrtle Beach, Ava Cooper of Georgetown, and Tyler Cooper of McDonough, GA; and one step-grandson, Seth Holladay of Georgetown. Terry also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Shane, Brayden, Brantley, Liam, Addelyn, Paisley, Brynlee, and Braxton; and several nieces and nephews. His son-in-law Jesus Garcia, as well as Al Britton, Shep Ivey, and Jacob Adams, were very special friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents; and his siblings Daniel, James Milton "Coopie," W.D., and John "Mutt."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caris Healthcare, 175 Waccamaw Medical Park Ct, Myrtle Beach, SC 29526.
A celebration of life for Mr. Terry Cooper will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Cooper Family.
