McClellanville:
The Rev. George Walter Couch, Jr., 82, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Sandpiper Rehab and Nursing Center.
Rev. Couch was born in Easley on November 28, 1926, a son of the late George Walter Couch and Eliza Sheriff Couch. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Duke Divinity School. Rev. Couch was a World War II veteran who served his country as a surgical technician in the Army.
Rev. Couch retired as a United Methodist minister who served church congregations for forty-two years. While in the ministry, he served as president of the ministerial association in Newberry, S. C. from 1992-1996. He was also head chaplain of Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, S. C. from 1988-1992.
Surviving are: his wife Wilhelmina McClellan Couch of McClellanville; two daughters, Ruby Couch Sarver of Duluth, Ga. and Susanne Couch Montgomery of Rock Hill, S. C.; two sons, George Walter Couch, III of Georgetown and James McClellan Couch of Tokyo, Japan; two granddaughters, Jamie Susanne Montgomery and Sarah Elizabeth Montgomery, and one grandson, George Walter Couch, IV.
Rev. Couch was predeceased by a sister, Laura Couch Adams of Andrews.
Funeral services will be Monday morning, April 27, 2009, at eleven o'clock in McClellanville United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. James O. Harper, the Rev. Patricia J. Parrish, and the Rev. Cliff McLeod. Burial will follow in McClellanville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 26, 2009, afternoon from two until four o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
