Andrews:

Thelma Marian Gibson Haselden, 96, widow of Tennyson Kenneth Haselden, Sr. died Friday, January 13, 2023, at Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital in Columbia.

Mrs. Haselden was born in Floyds, SC on August 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Art Baird Gibson and Lucy Bright Williams Gibson.

Thelma graduated from Floyds High School and earned a teaching degree from Winthrop College. After teaching at several Horry County schools, she moved to Andrews to teach. She met Tennyson, married him, and made Andrews her home town. Thelma taught and coached for 32 years. She coached girls' basketball, supervised the cheerleaders, and started the volleyball program at Andrews High. In all of her years of coaching, she never had a losing season. After retirement, Thelma discovered she had a talent for writing poetry. Numerous people received her poems and were appreciative of her verses about their personal lives. Her later years of life were spent being cared for by her daughter and son-in-law.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Marian, and her husband, Gerald Webb, of Irmo; her son, Kenny, and his wife, Kim, of Myrtle Beach; and her grandson, Rhett, his wife, Rachel, and her two great-grandchildren, Beckett and Renley of Myrtle Beach. She has numerous well-loved nieces and nephews with whom she stayed in touch. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her four brothers: A.B. Gibson, Cole Gibson, Harris Gibson, and Hubert Gibson.
