Thomas Leech Brown entered into eternal rest on August 4, 2009 at his home in Charlotte, N. C. He was born in Hickory Grove, S. C. on April 12, 1924, the son of Lucile Leech and Thomas Palmer Brown.
Mr. Brown graduated from Charleston High School and entered the Navy in 1942. He served in the Mediterranean theatre until late 1944 and finished his military service in Galveston, Tex. After studying at the University of South Carolina, he trained in the insurance field.
He was married to Elizabeth Ann Lofton of McClellanville, S. C. in 1948. They moved to Raleigh, N. C. in 1949, where he worked for Kemper Ins. Co. In 1956, he moved to Charlotte, N. C., where he served as Regional Manager of that company.
In Charlotte, he and a partner opened Brown & Choate Ins. Co. That Company was sold to Johnson & Higgins. Mr. Brown retired from that company as a vice president.
He is survived by his wife; his son, Thomas Palmer Brown, and wife, Curtis (Boo), of Greenville, S. C.; his son, Charles Lucas Brown, and wife, Elaine, of Aiken, S. C.; his granddaughters, Leslie Brown Holliday and husband, Aaron, and Sarah Alexander Brown of Greenville, S. C.; granddaughter, Anna Lucas St. Germain of Washington, D. C.; and his sister, Barbara Brown Frankowiak of Reading, Pa.
A service of committal will be held at 3 pm, October 11, 2009, at St. James Santee Episcopal Church, McClellanville, S. C., conducted by The Rev. Jenny Olbrych.
There will be a greeting for the family afterward.
