Obituary

Georgetown: Thomas William Fuener, 96, widower of Elizabeth Derby Fuener, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fuener was born in Chicago, Ill. on December 28, 1916, a son of the late Thomas J. O'Shaughnessy and Madeleine Sanesec O'Shaughnessy Fuener. He graduated from Purdue University in 1939 and served four years in the U.S. Army in Persia (Iran) during WWII. Mr. Fuener was an automobile engineer with Oldsmobile Division, General Motors Corp. He retired in 1978, and later moved to Georgetown in 2010. Mr. Fuener was a communicant at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church, and in previous churches had served as deacon, sexton, Sunday School leader, and choir singer. He was a talented pianist, and played the piano at Morningside Assisted Living. Surviving are: a son, the Very Rev. Paul C. Fuener (Becky) of Georgetown; a daughter, Caroline Chipman (Brian) of Canton, Mich.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Fuener was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Daly (Frank) of Utica, Mich.; and a grandson, Ethan Chipman. Sign a guestbook at: www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
