Georgetown:
Thomas McKay Gaede, 70, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Gaede was born in Charlotte, N.C. on April 2, 1942, a son of the late Constance McKay Gaede and Anton Henry Gaede, Sr. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Gaede sailed around the world and served in Antarctica aboard the icebreaker USS Glacier. A waterman and commercial fisherman until retirement, he held a 1600 ton U.S. Coast Guard License and fished the waters from the Grand Banks to Argentina.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ashley Elizabeth Gaede of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jenna McKay McMillan (Toby) of Meggett; one grandson, Finley Thomas McMillan of Meggett; one brother, A. H. "Nick" Gaede, Jr. (Joanne Miller) of Birmingham, Ala.; two nieces, Cameron Gaede (Andy Pollard) and Anne Gaede, both of Birmingham, Ala.; one nephew, Tony Gaede (Lucy) of Birmingham, Ala.; one great-niece, Addison Pollard of Birmingham, Ala.; and three great-nephews, Jamie Pollard and Henry and Thomas Gaede, all of Birmingham, Ala.
Mr. Gaede is also survived by: his partner, Kay Latimer, and their canine girls, Willie and Doodle; her daughter, Katharine Ogburn (Vernie) of Murrells Inlet; and their children, Edwin Ossont, Bella, Liam, and Vincent Ogburn, all of Murrells Inlet.
