Georgetown:
Vera Alice Porter Johnson, 94, widow of Everett Eugene Johnson, died Friday, January 15, 2016, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Georgetown on December 20, 1921, daughter of the late William Alpheus Porter and Emma Blanche Mercer Porter. She grew up in the Oak Grove Community of Georgetown Co. and graduated from Andrews High School, class of 1938. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and attended Johnson Chapel Baptist Church for many years. She was an avid Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tiger fan.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by: a brother, W. David Porter; and two sisters, Kathryn P. Johnson and Juanita P. Gordon.
Surviving are: two sons, Mark Johnson (Janet) of Georgetown and Rhett Johnson (Kathy) of Andalusia, Ala.; two daughters, Debby Summey of Georgetown and Dutchin Braisted of Charleston; a sister, Arline P. Cribb of Pawleys Island; seven grandchildren, Rhett Merideth (Cody), Will King, Brian Johnson (Kim), Rebecca Lewis (Brian) Halsey Blevins (Jared), Seth Johnson, and Maggie Wall (Adam); and ten great-grandchildren, Cole, Carson, Christine, Ryan, Jake, Ginny, Gray, Hattie, Dottie, and Perrin.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2016, at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen P. Candal. The family will receive friends in the church prior to service from two until three. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
