Georgetown: Violet Regan Farrell, 84, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Farrell was born in Roxboro, N.C. on October 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Isaac Verne Regan and Pallie Dunn Regan, and widow of Charles Roy Farrell, Jr. She and Charles were married on March 23, 1950. Mrs. Farrell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved and enjoyed her family, friends, education, and nature. She graduated from Peace College and Erskine College. She also graduated with a master of education degree from The Citadel. Moving to Georgetown in 1966, Mrs. Farrell continued her career in special education with the Georgetown County School District. Over the next 26 years, Mrs. Farrell taught, coordinated, and directed special services. She was the first director of special services in Georgetown County and developed special education curriculum which was used worldwide. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William MacDonald Regan. Surviving are: a daughter, Deborah Farrell Seale (her friend, David Morris) of Georgetown; a son, Charles Regan Farrell (Sue) of Laurel Hill, N.C.; four grandchildren, John Robert Seale (his friend, Melinda Lambert) and William Regan Seale, both of Georgetown, Charles Regan Farrell, Jr. of Brewster, N.Y., and James Edwin Farrell of Ithaca, N.Y. The memorial service was held at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church on June 3, 2012 at 2 pm. Immediately following the service, the family received friends in the Family Life Center.
