Andrews:
Virginia Fulton McConnell, 93, widow of James "Jay" Kenneth McConnell, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown.
Mrs. McConnell was born on April 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Fulton and Mary Elizabeth Jones Fulton. She grew up in the Big Dam community of Georgetown Co. near Andrews and was a graduate of Andrews High School. Mrs. McConnell was a former bookkeeper for American Cyanamid, Peoples Motor Sales and Clark Tims Motors. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McConnell was a longtime member of the Clemson IPTAY Club and had great love for her Clemson Tigers. She also enjoyed working in her yard and cooking. Mrs. McConnell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McConnell was predeceased by: a brother, Benjamin Franklin Fulton, Jr.
Surviving are: a son, J. Kenneth McConnell, Jr. (Debbie) of Georgetown; a daughter, Gloria McConnell Watson of Andrews; three grandchildren, Leslie Watson McCants (Michael) of Andrews, Kristin McConnell Andrews (Herbie) of Charleston; and Christopher Cooper McConnell of Georgetown; four great-grandchildren, Peyton McCants, Finley Andrews, Waylon Andrews, and Braxton McConnell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Saturday morning, January 16, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ben M. Gafford. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
