Georgetown:
Virginia Jo "Jody" Irwin Spearman, 85, widow of Joseph "Joe" Ernst Spearman, died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Spearman was born in Knoxville, Tenn. on September 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Clayton Carlisle Irwin and Frennie Beatrice Needham Irwin. She attended the University of Chattanooga. While living in Rock Hill, Mrs. Spearman was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as Chairman of Volunteers for the American Red Cross. She also served as a Board Member of Mental Health America in Georgetown.
Mrs. Spearman lived at Belle Isle near Georgetown for twenty-eight years. She loved to swim, play golf and play cards only by the rules.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Spearman was predeceased by: a son, Robert I. Spearman; and three brothers, Kenneth Irwin, Clayton C. Irwin, Jr. and Basil L. Irwin.
Surviving are: three daughters, Mary L. Parnell (Roger) of Mt. Pleasant, Paty S. Cowden of Huger, and Lynn S. Rehe of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Susan Z. Spearman of Mt. Pleasant; and eight grandchildren.
A Celebration of Mrs. Spearman's Life will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2015, at Belle Isle Yacht Club.
