Wallace Hampton Lawrimore, 78, died Monday, May 4, 2009, in Kindred Hospital-Charleston after a valiant fight against a difficult illness.
Mr. Lawrimore was born in Georgetown on October 20, 1930, a son of the late Wade Hampton "Hamp" Lawrimore and Eulie Johnson Lawrimore. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lawrimore was a retired employee of International Paper Company. He loved family, hunting, and fishing. Mr. Lawrimore was affectionately known as "Hamp" or "Sonny". Mr. Lawrimore was a former Dixie Youth baseball coach.
Mr. Lawrimore was predeceased by: his wife, Virgie Powell Lawrimore and a daughter, Sharon Lawrimore Cameron.
Surviving are: two sons, Walter M. Parker, III of Sneedville, Tenn. and Wallace H. (Kimberly) Lawrimore, Jr. of Pawleys Island; three daughters, Maria P. (Terry) Eliason of Moncks Corner, Sonya L. (John) Schroer of Pawleys Island, and Pamela E. Lawrimore of Georgetown; a sister, Elaine L. McDougal of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Ernie (Christine) Eliason of Summerville, and Regan Schroer and Candace Schroer, both of Pawleys Island; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Eliason and Ryan Houseman, both of Summerville.
Funeral services will be ten o'clock Thursday morning, May 7, 2009, at the Graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Patrick J. Stenson.
